Bess top Imagine gants Pattern tour
Its no secret I adore Rachael. I love her patterns, I've made several.  The Bess is my favorite, and I like this version immensely.

from the pattern bio:

the bess top has an easy fit that is designed to flatter a variety of body types. both shirt and tunic lengths have a subtle hi-lo hem, and the dress is designed to hit at the knee. all options feature pleated yoke formed by a wrap-around sleeve, and tunic and dress lengths include optional in-seam pockets. the neckline, sleeves, and hem (for shirt and tunic lengths) are all finished with jersey knit, a technique that gives a clean, easy finish, allowing for a well-stitched curve while providing stability.

could not have said it better!

What did I do? well, I started with the Bess pattern.  I knew I wanted to do the lace on the shoulder and cap sleeve portion.  The funnest part of this top is its ease and unique sleeve construction. Then I thought, I want to extend the lace to mid back, you get a hint of my tattoos!

I extended the length of the top to mid way to the tunic.  I wanted to do a dress, but I was having a hard time deciding on fabric. I finally stumbled upon this mustard lace in my stash and the last of the bird and bunny double gauze in my stash, and I like the combo.  Instead of doing the strips of jersey for the bindings, I used stretch lace trim.

When I cut this cutie out, I went with the scoop neck option.  But, after I was done and put it on, I didn't like the fit on myself. so I just added an inverted pleat in the center of the front neckline to mimic the pleats on the shoulders.  This created a slight V, snugged it up a tad, and makes my tata's stand out! HA!
