uhhh, miss, your seams are showing...

leggings...

Why would a company advertise such a thing:

Do you see that print?  That would drive me nuts! all wonky like that.  I would be really self conscious.  I am sure that I am the only person that would realize it was so mismatched, but geez.

To prove a point, I made these, trying very hard to line up my print and seams...( not really that hard)

I am adding some tips to my other tutorial on leggings.  My pattern works so well for me that my stock of leggings is growing.

When you are cutting your pattern pieces, make sure your pattern lines up...

after you sew up your back and front seams, line up your print when you sew up your inseam.

admire your work.

the seam is there, but the print lines up closely enough, that it isn't as noticeable!

it even matches leg to leg.

damn I am getting good at these... for myself that is.

  1. Your leggings look really good, nice fabric choice. What`s the pattern your using anyway....I could use some new leggings. I`ve never thought to sew some up. Did you use a serger. I usually finish off seams with a serger.

    1. I created my own pattern based on an existing pair of leggings. I put a link in the post but here it is to the original post: http://casaturtle.blogspot.com/2012/10/how-far-behind-leggings-tutorial.html#.ULjXhGfoLSs

I do use a serger at times. I didn't for these. the seams are just trimmed up, and the knit doesn't fray.

I would have been completley bothered by the "professional" ones.

    1. JoAnn's. it was the end of the bolt, just enough for a pair of leggings. It's sorta thermal...

  4. Really nice work! Love the legging you made. the ones advertised are terrible. The only explanation I can think it is that they did it on purpose, for some bizarre post-post-modern avant garde reason that escapes me.

  5. I love your tights! Companies are too cheap about using all available fabric they just don't care about matching obvious patterns like that. Just a damn shame. Its like wearing a shirt that only has half the buttons or only one sleeve. Sheesh!
